Excursion destination in the Alpbachtal close to your Hotel Kirchenwirt in Reith

  • Medieval glassblowing city of Rattenberg (3 km)
    A charming, historical town. You can look over the shoulders of glassblowers, engravers, grinders and glass painters at the Kisslinger Kristall Glas – glass processing tradition since 1820. And you can try glassblowing yourself. Furthermore: Handicraft museum Nagelschmiedhäuser & Augustiner Museum with Tyrolean art treasures
    • Museum cemetery in Kramsach – the fun cemetery without the dead(3 km)
    • Has a collection of artfully forged grave stones from the 19th century. With strange epitaphs and hearty cross inscriptions. One hundred years ago people had a much different relationship to death and dying. 
    • Open-air museum Tyrolean farmsteads, east of the Reintaler lake (5 km)
    • 14 typical farmsteads from different Tyrolean valleys – with their annexes like the sawmill, grain mill, blacksmith, chapels and an old school – give you an impression of the traditional life and work on a farm.

    Pure nostalgia ...  and amazing excursions in Tyrol

    • Achensee –historical train & boat ride (12 km)
      Smoking, hissing and steaming: the nostalgic excursion with the approximately 120 year-old Achensee steam cog railway from Jenbach to the Achensee, through the wild romantic landscape. Change to a boat and take a ride on one of the 4 ships that cruise the Achensee Lake.
    • Zeiss Planetarium in Schwaz (15 km)
      Get closer to space in the Zeiss Planetarium. Experience the sun and the planets in a fascinating show.
    • Silver mine in Schwaz (15 km)
      A trip back in time to the Schwazer Silver mine on the trail of medieval silver and copper mining. Around 1500, approximately 85% of the silver traded world-wide was mined here.
    • Tratzberg Castle in Stans (15 km)
      Audio tours introduce you to Emperor Maximillian I and other aristocratic owners of the more than 500 year old, originally furnished castle. Exciting fairy-tale tours for children.

    • Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens (25 km)
      A sparkle and a twinkle in a sensual fantasy world: The Swarovski Crystal Worlds is the tourist attraction with the most visitors in Tyrol.
    • Kufstein Fortress in Kufstein (25 km)
      Tyrol's imposing jewel, elaborately restored. An astonishing range of impressions and services for all those interested in culture and history.
    • Riedel Glass in Kufstein (25 km)
      World-famous producer of glass. Watch from the gallery in the exhibition lodge and discover how paper-thin drinking glasses and perfectly shaped pitchers & decanters are mouth blown from a red, molten glass mass.
    • Rarity Zoo in Ebbs (30 km)
      A flower and bird paradise at the foot of the "Zahmen Kaiser" Mountain. Marvel at 300 animals and more than 120 species including rare and threatened species like the South American maned wolf, dwarf otters and giant tortoises.
    • Hall Mint Museum & Mint Tower (40 km)
      A recreation of the first minting machine in the world, "The Colossus", true to the original: This minting machine was considered a technical sensation in the Middle Ages. Today it's a unique specimen standing at the very spot where its predecessor stood in the 16th century and produced 4000 coins daily. 
    • Innsbruck – the capital of Tyrol –with an Alpine zoo (50 km)
      Alpine wildlife at the highest zoo in Europe, with 2,000 animals and 150 species. And don't forget the beautiful old town of Innsbruck with the world-famous Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl), Ambras Castle, Hofkirche and the Bergisel ski jump.
